Types of Epoxy floor flakes
Epoxy floor flakes are simply coloured vinyl chips used to create the decorative finish on an Epoxy floor. They also add texture and grip, making it a practical solution for a range of applications.
At London Linings, our Epoxy flooring experts offer four standard Epoxy flooring solutions.
Partial flake
The partial flake design is also referred to as Terrazzo style.
This is where we randomly scatter a thin layer of flakes that leave a portion of your Epoxy colour exposed underneath.
This offers a subtle yet decorative pattern.
Full flake Epoxy floor
Our full flake Epoxy floor coating provides fuller coverage of the underlying coating.
This results in a highly textured and anti-slip finish.
Flakes are available in a range of blends and sizes.
Custom flake blends
Our unique custom system allows you to choose the colours and shades of your Epoxy coating as well as the flake blend.
This is a brilliant solution to ensure the flooring meets the entire aesthetic of your space.
Plain Epoxy
For those who want a simple option, we also provide a plain finish.
A simple Epoxy coating with a UV polyurethane topcoat offers a uniform colour and a shiny appearance.
Where can Epoxy flake flooring be used?
Epoxy flake flooring is a hugely versatile solution suitable for a range of commercial, industrial, and even residential applications.
Some of the most popular applications include:
-
Garages
Decorative and durable: reinject new life into an old, worn, or tired-looking garage floor with modern and attractive Epoxy flake floors. Ensure a safe, non-slip, and aesthetically pleasing floor in all types of garages, including multi-residential underground parking garages and basement car parks.
-
Food & beverage industry
Areas with heavy foot traffic such as commercial kitchens require durable, safe, and non-slip flooring to keep staff safe. Epoxy flooring is a hugely popular choice in kitchens as well as front-of-house spaces like restaurants, cafes, and other hospitality venues due to its longevity and durability. It also helps to create a sanitary environment.
-
Mechanical workshops
Areas that experience high foot and vehicular traffic benefit from strong, resistant, and low-maintenance Epoxy flake flooring. Think mechanical workshops, car washes, parking bays, and more.
-
Warehouses
With multiple processes running simultaneously, warehouses can be chaotic environments full of people, machinery, and goods. Whether overlaying a new slab or simply refreshing an old and worn substrate, Epoxy flake flooring not only looks fantastic, but is also hard-wearing, non-slip, and long-lasting.
-
Retail stores & shopping centres
Modern, attractive, and thanks to a range of flake blends on offer, Epoxy flake flooring is completely customisable. Choose a partial flake floor for a subtle touch or a striking floor with fuller flake coverage. Epoxy flake flooring is suitable for retail stores and shopping centres, including public toilets.
-
In addition to the above commercial and industrial applications, Epoxy flake flooring is also suitable for residential flooring.
What is the purpose of Epoxy flake flooring?
The flakes act as not only a decorative aspect but also increase safety by improving traction and adding a non-slip element to your floor. They add grip to the floor to a rating of R12.
How long can you expect Epoxy flake flooring to last?
Even under daily wear and tear, you can expect your Epoxy flake flooring to last up to 10 years. Best of all, Epoxy flooring requires very little maintenance, making it one of the most affordable and sustainable solutions for your commercial flooring.
It is a brilliantly cost-effective alternative to removal and replacement if your current concrete flooring is looking a little worse for wear. Reinvigorate chipped, damaged, and stained flooring with a sleek, professional, and hard-wearing Epoxy solution.

How much do Epoxy flake floors cost?
At London Linings, our goal is to offer our clients the best quality Epoxy flooring at the most competitive pricing.
Our prices start from just $70 per sqm. If you can, let us know the dimensions of the space to get a more accurate estimate.
Can you DIY Epoxy flake flooring?
While DIY kits are available at many hardware stores, we strongly discourage you from trying to apply Epoxy flakes yourself. There are a number of disadvantages associated with them.
Mostly, these drawbacks revolve around the quality of the materials provided in these kits which can result in sub-par results as well as wasted time and money.
In some cases, you will not be provided with a sufficient amount of flakes, which means your floor can end up looking patchy and uneven.
Additionally, many kits do not include a topcoat, which can leave your flooring susceptible to dirt and grime that becomes wedged between the flakes.
Of course, functionality is just as important as aesthetics - and you can achieve both with London Linings.
